The VenaSeal™ Closure System is a solution for diseased veins. Dr. Allen K. Chan, vascular surgeon and vein specialist at SoCal Vein & Aesthetics in Murrieta, California, offers this revolutionary new treatment in outpatient procedures. This system delivers a “superglue” type medical adhesive directly into the damaged vein, which forces the diseased veins to close off completely. It’s a quick and convenient procedure that requires no downtime. Call or click online to schedule your appointment with Dr. Chan.
Venaseal Closure System Q & A
The VenaSeal process begins after Dr. Chan administers numbing medication to the treatment area in your legs. This ensures that you won’t be uncomfortable or in pain, even though you’ll be fully conscious for the whole VenaSeal procedure.
Once the treatment area is completely numb, Dr. Chan will place a very slim catheter into the diseased vein. The VenaSeal adhesive is then delivered directly into the vein through this catheter. Dr. Chan will apply pressure to the treated vein to ensure that the vein walls are glued together, and the process is then complete. The blood from the treated veins is immediately routed into other nearby (healthy) veins.
In most cases, Dr. Chan can treat at least two veins at one time, depending upon your individual needs. He prefers to treat multiple veins during a single session if the damaged veins are in the same area of the leg.
After VenaSeal vein closure, you may notice symptom relief right away. Symptoms like leg pain and leg swelling are caused by the diseased veins that were treated, so with those veins sealed off the symptoms are usually gone quite quickly.
Once the VenaSeal adhesive closes off your vein, the vein will eventually collapse entirely. The vein will then be reabsorbed by your body. The VenaSeal adhesive is also absorbed naturally and harmlessly by your body over time.
VenaSeal vein closure is done on an outpatient basis, and most patients are up and on their feet in half an hour or less after their treatment. There’s no downtime needed in the majority of cases, and most patients can go back to their regular routine whenever they feel ready.
Most patients don’t experience significant bruising, bleeding, or pain after VenaSeal, and compression stockings usually aren’t required during recovery.
